__ __ __Barb, Jill, Lori
Don was born in Ashland, Oregon. As a youngster, his family moved to Laurier, Washington, a small border town near Christina Lake B.C. In 1959, Don moved to Canada and married Chris. He was an avid outdoor adventurer and gold miner. In 1963, he took his young family on the first mining excursion to the Klondike gold fields. They returned after one season to the town site of Granite Creek where they discovered old money hidden in the bedpost of a brass bed in the cabin they were living in. Don mined local rivers for many years until 1973 when he returned to the Yukon. While there he staked his beloved “Ready Bouillion Gulch” claim. He worked the claim for 20 years, joined by his daughter in 1983. Don would mine in the summers and head to Arizona for the winters. He sold his mine in 1992 and bought a fishing boat where he lived in Vancouver. Don moved back to Princeton in 1998 and there. His ashes were scattered around his cabin at Granite Creek where his adventures had begun.
