__ __ __Myrtle
Richard (John) Edmonds was born on April 7, 1869 in Stratford, ON, son of John Edmonds and Margaret (Cawston) Edmonds. He married Eliza Ann Bromley. In 1946, she was cooking for the mining crew at the Yniman property. At the time of his death, he was a retired butcher.
He arrived in Hedley in 1903 after he had been twelve years with Tom Ellis (Ellis Ranch) in Penticton. His son, Richard, died in 1919 (aged 5 months).
In partnership with George Cawston, he bought out the Charlie Richter butcher shop, now (1946) the Hedley Meat market. Later, Edmonds bought out Cawston and, in 1924, sold to John Mairhofer – who sold to present (1946) E.J. Quaedvlieg.
He was survived by his wife, one daughter Myrtle (Mrs. J. Hardman ) and two grand-children Raymond and Donna. Also his grandson, Rummy Hardman.
