Herman Edward currently lives in Keremeos. His parents are the late Isabel Edward (Louie) and Noel Edward. Canoe carver amongst many other talents, Lower Similkameen Indian Band, Keremeos
Herman teaches the Nsyilxcen Okanagan language, which he is fluent in. He also teaches culture and protocols to children and adults. He has worked with various aboriginal art forms including carving, buckskin tanning, moccasin making, rattle, traditional regalia, tule mat making, beadwork and much more. He is also an award winning musician, his CD It’s About Time was nominated for a Native American Music Award in 2011 and his second CD Past and Present was nominated for an award in 2016. Herman Edward is the one who carved the canoe in the museum. It was carved in 2003 out of Cottonwood. It was one of his first canoes.
