William Wesley Morton Erskine (Mort) was born in Peterborough, ON, on April 14, 1898. He married Eve Ruhr in Peterborough on July 24, 1942 in Oliver, BC. At the time of his marriage, he was living in Vancouver and working as a mechanic in a mining camp. He died on May 23, 1960 in Princeton.
He was a time-keeper at the Copper Creek Japanese Nationals Camp, July 1942 (Princeton – Camp #5, located 53 miles east and north of Tashme or 17 miles southwest of Princeton, this camp employed 52 men in July 1942).
Passed preliminary examination for enlistment for the 26th Company of the Veteran’s Guard of Canada, August 1942.
He was the Aerodrome keeper for seventeen years (1943-1960). He was a member of both the Canadian Legion and the Elks Lodge.
