Dorothy Waterstreet was born on February 10, 1909 in North Dakota, USA. She married Joseph Michael Ferko in Rossland on August 15, 1928. She died in Vernon on May 12, 1995.
She opened a beauty parlour in the rear of the Departmental Store – marcelling, hair cutting, shampooing – in late October 1928. She was an experienced hair stylist, having had operated the Allan Beauty Parlour in Rossland before coming to Princeton. By November 1928, her salon was known as the Princeton Beauty Salon.
