Susan Jane Gledson was born Sept. 14th 1888, at Aspen Grove (or Texas Creek), BC. She was the daughter of Alonzo B. Roberts and Josephine (Taylor) Roberts. She married Joseph Gledson on May 9, 1914 at Canyon House, BC. At the time of their marriage, they were both living at Canyon House and Joseph was working as a farm-hand. She died in Princeton, BC, on January 30, 1987 and is buried in Hillside Cemetery, Kamloops, BC.
Susan (Taylor) Gledson was about two years old when the Taylor family moved to the ranch near Aspen Grove – this is contradicted by here marriage registration. However, her death registration notes that she was born at Texas Creek, BC.
She also remembers her mother speaking of Carson’s pack train to the Cariboo.
In 1921, the Gledson’s and her parents, Alonzo and Jospehine, were living at Aspen Grove. She visited her parents at Otter Valley in May 1924.
She was awarded the Provincial Centennial Pioneer Medallion in September 1971.
She spent her last days at Ridgewood Lodge in Princeton where she was presented with a walker by the Ladies’ Orange Benevolent Association.
