Eva Blanche ( ) Godenrath
Percy F. Godenrath was born in Shanghai, China, on October 19, 1874. He married Eva Blanche ( ) Godenrath. He died in 1944.
In 1901, Godenrath was a press correspondent from Greenwood, BC. In August of that year, the Similkameen Star reported that he planned to remain in the area visiting the different camps in the interests of a syndicate of eastern Canadian and American daily newspapers.
He seems to have been a prolific writer. He had a lengthy article published in the Similkameen Star in September 1901: “A Tale of Early Days” and in 1905, he wrote “Mother Earth’s Treasure Vaults” – a small book/pamphlet(?) which sold for twenty-five cents and described the history of the Similkameen. The Star reported on numerous other of his writing ventures as well.
He was a member of the Princeton Football Club in August 1901.
Godenrath formed a coal company, The Osoyoos & Similkameen Coal & Exploration Company, in September 1902 in Seattle. This company was to operate in the Similkameen with Godenrath as manager.
In July 1903, he had just completed the sale of coal property on Nine Mile and One-Mile creeks and was was living in Spokane, Washington, USA.
He enlisted in Victoria, BC, on November 11, 1914 and served as a captain in the Canadian Over-Seas Expeditionary Force.
