Lindley, Henry
He was an Englishman who was in the Nicola Valley about 1860. He had a poke full of gold but it could not buy him provisions for the reason that 1959-60 had been a very cold winter and even the Nicola Valley Indians were threatened with starvation. Lindley was almost starving. He rode into an Indian camp and was fed. When other miners on their way north met him they exchanged flour and bacon for his horses. Sim* 1904 Lewis Lindley died suddenly at Nicola Dec. 22.

Thanks for this response. Henry Lindley was an Englishman, born there in 1830. He married an Indigenous woman named Margaret Transwa in 1863. They had to get special permission from the Catholic Church in order for him to marry Margaret.
Their daughter Sarah Lindley married Alfred Oelrich. My grandson is descended from Sarah’s daughter Katherine who had a child out of wedlock before she married Stuart Seaman and had 5-6 children.
Margaret Transwa is buried in Lower Nicola Cemetery.
Again thanks for following up for me.
