Marcotte, Mary (Faulds)
Louis Napoleon Marcotte
Mary Faulds was born May 5, 1888 in Kilmalcolm, Scotland. Came to Canada after WWI was over and to Coalmont about 1919. Mary married Louis Napoleon Marcotte in Vancouver, BC on February 2, 1921. She was his second wife (his first wife died in childbirth). On December 2, 1928 a fire was spotted in Coalmont. It destroyed Mr. Worgan’s home and real estate/insurance office and the stable west of Mr. Worgan’s. The building to the east of Worgan’s was saved with the efforts of locals, particularly Mary Marcotte who hauled bucket after bucket of water from Mr. Prendergast’s well until the well went dry. She died on August 27, 1979 in Summerland, BC. Mary is buried at the Granite Creek Cemetery beside her father, Robert Faulds.
