Augusta Larson was born on March 6, 1901 in Fiskabygd, Vanylen, Norway. She married Howard McInroy in 1917 in Irma, Alberta. She died on August 12, 1979, at Princeton General Hospital.
Augusta came to Canada with her family in 1906 to homestead at Irma, Alberta. She and Howard had three children in Irma, Saskatchewan: Mildred, Clarence and Irene. The family moved to Kelowna in 1923 (where Dempsey was born) and then to Princeton in 1927. They lived in East Princeton and then in 1931, they moved to Hayes Creek (Five Mile Creek), on what is now [2024] the Old Hedley Road.
In December 1933, Augusta McInroy and her husband, Howard, were witnesses to an altercation which claimed the life of Robert Campbell. They both testified at the hearing. Their neighbour at Five Mile Creek, Charles Hunter, was charged with murder.
In January 1948, the McInroy’s place was burned.
Augusta was a charter member of the Women’s Institute for many years.
