Janet Anne (Corrie) Hardin (1935- )
Helen Peterson was born on July 23, 1901 in Grand Forks, BC. She married Jimmy Waugh on July 17, 1924 in Penticton, BC. At the time of their marriage, he was working as a contractor and she was working as a waitress. Both were living in Princeton. After he died in 1931, she married Hamish Corrie-Douglas “James Corrie”. The marriage was in 1934. After Corrie died in 1960, she was remarried to Win Almstead in 1964. She died on January 7, 1997, at the Princeton General Hospital.
Helen Waugh was seriously ill in early 1921; and she broke her arm in March 1933.
She was a prize-winner in the 1922 Flower Show for her needlework – a sofa cushion and a corset cover.
She hosted a gathering which celebrated the marriage of Charles H. Watson. The bride and women gathered at the Waugh’s; the groom and the men gathered at the Watson’s home (1927).
The Waugh’s were living in Coalmont in March 1928.
As Mrs. Corrie, she canvased for the Red Cross in February 1944.
She spent summers with her daughter, Janet, at Tulameen (1945) (1947).
Mrs. Helen Almstrom was active in St Paul’s United Church and was a founding member of the Dorcas Circle. She was leader of a group of girls called the “Mission Band.” During the 1960s, the project was to build Church of England Hall in 1965.
