Vittoni, John Battista
Palmira (Helrigel) (Corsi) Vittoni
John Battista Vittoni was born on April 16, 1884 in Macugnaga, Province of Novara, Italy. He married Palmira Corsi, a widow (Alexander Corsi 1884-1932) living at Copper Mountain, around 1933. He died on April 19, 1969 in Princeton General Hospital.
Vittoni came to Canada in 1906 and to the Princeton area around 1920. It is possible that Alexander Corsi, Palmira Helrigel, and Battista Vittoni knew each other in Italy and met again at Copper Mountain.
He was inducted into the Rebekah Vermilion Lodge #24 on October 9, 1922.
In March 1925, he donated $1.00 to the Ladies’ Auxiliary fund-raiser to purchase an x-ray machine for the hospital.
He took over Wolf Creek ranch and in 1938, ran an advertisement for the “Wolf Creek Dairy” in the Similkameen Star on July 28, 1938. The farm bought a new truck from Brett’s Garage in 1941. (Frank Kelly was working at Brett’s at this time – he was the husband of Vittoni’s step-daughter, Mary (Corsi) Kelly).
