Mrs. S M Walker was born Mary Catherine Lorenzetto in 1863 at St.Elmo BC. near Laidlaw. She married Sylvanus McConico Walker on May 29 1885 in Hope. Mary Catherine known as Kate. Kate and Sylvanus made their way to Granite City over the Hope trail. They stayed near Robert Stevenson’s place and John Bromley’s stopping house 9 Miles west of Princeton. Eventually Sylvanus got a homestead on the Hedley Road 9 Miles from John Fall Allison. This would be the 9 Mile stopping house.
Sylvanus died at Granite Creek ( accident? or otherwise?) Kate then married John Hatten Bromley and he moved into her place on Hedley Rd. They had 2 children, John Hatten Bromley Jr and Eliza Bromley. John Sr died at Hedley Feb 24 1919 age 63. Kate then married a rancher from Hedley by the name of Lewis Sumner (Lawn Summer) on Feb 27 1922. She was a lot older than him. Lawn Summer died in Princeton on Dec 1 1929 at age 49. Kate died in Hedley June 11 1942 age 79. Her name listed as -ary Catherine Sumner on BC Archives. Her obituary appeared in the Similkameen Star for June 18, 1942. Everyone knew her as Kate Bromley. She is the oldest sister to Euphemia Lorenzetto RABBITT. Euphemia came up the Hope trail to visit her sister Kate and met Mr. Thomas Rabbitt. Kate and Euphemia had a brother , Peter Lorenzetto who came up at that time too. He moved to the Hedley Rd next to his sister Kate Bromley. Peter married Edith Price, daughter of Barrington Price of the Keremeos Grist Mill.
