1st July Parade 1938
Image of (George) Milner Gould and another man, 1st of July Parade, 1938. Two young men, one in a sailors uniform, one in a military uniform, sit on the I.0.0.F. parade float for the “Vermilion Rebekah Lodge”. On the float are cutouts for His Majesty George VI. Children sit on the back of the same float flanking a sign which reads “Our Defenders” People stand on the side of the street and watch the parade. Building behind float was the Elks Hall. House on the left belonged to Dumas. On Kenley Avenue off Bridge Street Elks Hall was cut in half and half is now located on Burton Avenue across from Esso bulk plant. Images from the “Rhodes Collection”, a group of images from the private collection of Ted Rhodes. The collection spans 1930s to the 1970s, mostly images concerning Princeton business, volunteerism and family life.
