Note on same page reads: Blakeburn Explosion…On the sultry afternoon of 13th of August 1930, a Wednesday, a terrific blast shook the shanty camp of Blakeburn smoke and debris came flying out of the upper ventilation tunnel. A month later 45 more bodies had been recovered from the shattered workings of No. 4 mine. One man near the portal was the only survivor. Some tragic and heroic yarns.
